Firstborn of the Sun

Everyone has agbárá — the power of the sun.

A heart-pounding Yoruba-inspired fantasy of courtly intrigue and forbidden power. In Oru, Lóre has a secret: she is the only one without agbárá — the power of the sun — and must conceal it on pain of death, even from her best friend Alawani. When the gods declare Alawani an Àlùfáà, he must be stripped of his power in a trial likely to kill him. Unwilling to bear his death, Lóre vows to rescue him — but when she reaches for agbárá, an icy shadow magic pours from her hands instead: a forbidden power from a secret land beyond the six rings of Oru.
